Chelmsford Looks for Input on Affordable Housing

And some Town Reps are expected to be offering up plenty of it tonight.

The ever-hot topic of affordable housing is expected to get the heat turned up a notch tonight at the Chelmsford Board of Selectmen meeting.

Word is that half-a-dozen Town Meeting Representatives are expected to show up to protest a proposed 120-unit affordable-housing project.

The proposed project, on Mill Road, just off Billerica Road, would help Chelmsford meet its requirement for pitching in to help meet a statewide requirement that every town help house people with lower income, also known as 40B.

According to the Lowell Sun, the public — Chelmsford residents and others — have a 30-day comment period, which lasts until the end of July.

There is another 40B proposal in circulation that would put an affordable housing project on Littleton Road.
