ReplyThey are not sensitive to Peanut Allergies, that is a ludicrous thing to say. Fine, they don't have to cater to everyone, I get that, but don't say something so blatantly untrue as that they are sensitive to allergies and take steps to avoid problems. More accurately, those with Peanut and Tree Nut allergies take steps to completely avoid ever going to a Five Guys restaurant.

ReplyMy take on the numbers is that you forgot to share CHELMSFORD's data with us. While I appreciate that Krista Perry is gone on to wonderful new adventures for her, I have noticed that since her departure the "Chelmsford" Patch is decidedly less "Chelmsford" since she left...

On the article QUESTION: What Do You Think of the New Stop and Shop?

ReplyIn response to all the lauding of Trader Joe's: yes, it is a great store and etc. but for a kid with Peanut allergies, a lot of what they carry is not safe... So years ago it stopped being my "go to store" for healthy items. I don't want to argue the point, I'm just stating my experience. I do better price wise and peanut free wise perusing the labels and shopping at all the closer to where I live stores balancing what each has to get the best for my family: MB, S&S, Hannafords and ordering on line (that comes straight to my door!). And for that matter, a lot of name brands that Traders carries are now carried at mainstream supermarkets often at better prices. The fact is: cost does matter, peanut/tree nut content matters, so for us no one store can fit the bill or be a "favorite." And I'm sure for various reasons that is true for most people.

ReplyI agree: Bruce Springsteen's rendition of Santa Claus is coming to Town! RIP Clarence, AND the most beautiful christmas song is What Child is This? BUT the MOST FUN is "I ain't gettin' nothin' for Christmas, mama and Daddy are mad, I ain't gettin' nothin' for christmas cuz I ain't been nothin but bad!" I don't know the title...

ReplyAs with the original location: if you shop the deals you do well at Stop and Shop. As always, I was incredibly impressed by the customer service. And who knew: shopping: there's an app for that. We tried the scan and bag as you go self checkout (with Customer Service assist) using the iphone app. Pretty cool... But, the same issue still stands, the old location was convenient for us, the new one just is not.

I meant to say paying to go to a hotel or out to a restaurant is a personal choice, I was redundant in my last post, sorry...

All this talk about hauling brush away and who should be responsible makes me wonder: when does the permit for burning start in town? Jan. 15? I think I am fully responsible for the many trees and branches that fell in my yard. We hauled stuff to the back corner of our property with the wonderful help of terrific neighbors and are awaiting burn season. It will take several many weekends, but it can be done... Paying to go out to dinner or a restaurant is a personal family choice that is valid, but is a choice. What I really worried about was the elderly and the infirm. There needs to be a system in place for helping those who truly need help. Offers of Shelters were given, not sure why those offers weren't taken up? But I know a couple of churches in the center offered themselves to both members and the community.

On the article QUESTION: When Should School Be Made Up?
Deirdre Heck
12:24 pm on Tuesday, November 8, 2011
ReplyI think the only real options for THIS year are longer school days, Saturdays, and going to school through most of June. We've missed 4 days, and we don't know if there will be more snow days. If there are not, we are no different than past years, if we do then the school committee will have to figure out what to do. I'm pretty sure the School Committee voted against getting rid of one of the Vacation weeks, which is something that has to be done in contracts. Having grown up with NO vacation weeks and getting out the first week of June, I could care less about either of those two weeks... But who knows, they are entrenched here in New England.

Peter, we won't be there either. And I for one am not enamored of a restaurant that chooses to be completely indifferent to life threatening allergies. They can choose to use peanuts in there business, it's a free commercial country, but I am sick of hearing how they are "careful." There is no careful if you serve peanuts freely.
