Residents to Selectmen: "We Choose Chelmsford"
A group of residents have established a group to fight the recall.
A group of residents last night told selectmen they "Choose Chelmsford" and will spearhead an effort to bring people to the polls on Aug. 2 to vote against recalling the selectmen. The recall election comes as lead petitioner Roland Van Liew asserts selectmen acted unlawfully regarding 9 North Road. Van Liew collected about 2,300 - about 10 percent of voters - signatures to force the recall election. "We were listening to concerns of many residents regarding what is happening and what will happen if the recall takes place," said Angelo Taranto, co-chairman of Choose Chelmsford. Phil means recall *petitions*. Yes, this is the second time Van Liew has paid out the nose for people to stand at the polls and everywhere else to try to recall someone. The signs were bought before he attempted to recall the planning board. They are not saying to vote no, they are saying don't sign the petition.
