Image Gallery: Halloween Storytime at the Chelmsford Public Library

The children's library hosts a story and parade.

With a little help from her family, Chelmsford Public Library Head of Children's Services Maureen Foley performed the story of "The Three Billy Goats Gruff" in front of a packed audience of children and their families at the library's McCarthy Meeting Room Friday. The Halloween Storytime is an annual event that has gone on for about eight years, said Foley.  "The reason I created this story time was first to give the children an opportunity to get dressed up and they love parades. They love being in parades," she said and "as a librarian, I am committed to sharing traditional fairytales with the community." Image Gallery: Harrington PTO Halloween Party

Harrington Elementary School celebrates the Halloween season with a community event.

All Hallows' Eve came to Harrington Elementary School two nights early when it celebrated its annual Halloween Party on Friday. The event, which ran from about 5:30 to 7:30p.m., was sponsored by the school's PTO and is "not really…a fundraiser, just a community event for the kids," said Principal Michael LaCava. Admission was $2 per child plus one bag of candy per family. Venues for the event were the Harrington cafeteria and neighboring gym. The party featured a 50/50 raffle, face painting, and various diversions including tossing games, "pumpkin bowling," and donut-eating contests, which PTO member Srinivas Mantha called "the most famous…a blast of a game."
