FIRE LOG: Merrimack River Kayaker Rescued

Excerpts from the Chelmsford Fire Department for the week of May 5 to 13, 2013

  May 5, 9:13 a.m. - A brush fire was reported on Littleton Road. May 5, 2:05 p.m. - An outdoor fire was investigated near the corner of Richardson Road and Princeton Street. May 7, 5:25 p.m. - A small area of mulch was on fire on Parkhurst Road. May 8, 8:56 a.m. - A motor vehicle crash on the corner of Glen Avenue and Chelmsford Street resulted in what first responders first believed to be a fuel leak. May 8, 4:27 p.m. - Firefighters received a call of a brush fire near the railroad tracks along Tyngsboro Road. May 9, 4:01 p.m. - Injuries were reported from a crash that involved three vehicles near the intersection of I-495 and Route 3. May 10, 2:30 p.m. - Firefighters were called to rescue a kayaker on the Merrimack River in North …

FIRE LOG: Two Accidents In An Hour on 495

Excerpts from the Chelmsford Fire Department log for the week of April 28 to May 6, 2013.

  April 28, 12:34 a.m. - Firefighters investigated a possible illegal burning at the corner of Jessie Road and Turnpike Road. April 29, 7:50 p.m. - Smoke was investigated in the area of Golden Cove Road. April 29, 9:11 p.m. - Illegal burning was reported on Littleton Road. April 30, 5:39 p.m. - Propane caused a reported grill fire on Noble Drive. May 1, 2:33 p.m. - A bark mulch fire was reported near vehicles on Parkhurst Road. May 3, 17:09 p.m. - There were two motor vehicle accidents on 495 Northbound in the space of an hour, with paramedics treating an individual with a possible broken wrist during the first accident.

April 22, 11:25 a.m. - An anonymous individual asked for the investigation of a fire on Dalton Road. April 22, 3:48 p.m. - A neighbor on Richardson road called in to complain about smoke coming from nearby. April 23, 1:36 p.m. - A suspicious package was reproted on Mill Road. April 23, 2:47 p.m. - Two suspcious backpacks were reported "under a vehicle" at Drum Hill Plaza. April 23, 8:40 p.m. - Paramedics aided an intoxicated patron in need of medical assistance at Applebee's. The following are excerpts from the Chelmsford Fire Department log for the week of April 1 to April 7.

  April 1, 7:29 a.m. - A waste truck called firefighters after a hydraulic truck leak near Chelmsford High School. While there was a spill, no fire was reported in relation to the leak. April 2, n/a - Firefighters investigated a possible tractor trailer truck on fire behind Hannaford. April 4, 7:29 a.m. - Paramedics responded to a motor vehicle accident with reported injuries near the Drum Hill Circle heading toward the McCarthy School. April 4, 2:08 p.m. - Three firefighter units investigated a possible brush fire near Nicholas Trail. April 4, 5:37 p.m. - Injuries were reported after a car hit a motorcycle on Riverneck Road. Neighbors Upset About Fire Permits on Middlesex Street, Drexel Drive

Chelmsford Fire Department log from March 24 to April 1, 2013

  March 24, 1:30 p.m. - Firefighters aided a resident who was locked out of their home on Wellman Avenue. March 26, 2:33 a.m. - Firefighters assisted police with a party on the roof on Groton Road. March 27, 2:58 p.m. - Paramedics responded to a motor vehicle accident with unknown injuries at Boston Market. March 28, 1:24 p.m. - A spill created the odor of natural gas in a kitchen on Richardson Road. Firefighters investigated. March 28, 3:05 p.m. - Fire Department officials checked on a permit fire complaint on Middlesex Street. There was another permit complaint on Drexel Drive on March 30 at 11:23 a.m.

  March 18, 3:55 p.m. - Airbags deployed in a three car accident on Drum Hill Road. March 19, 4:22 p.m. - A motor vehicle was discovered off the road following an accident near the intersection of Overlook Drive and Old Westford Road. March 22, 10:46 p.m. - Firefighters investigated after a resident on Russell Road reported that they smelled rubber inside their house. March 23, 8:25 p.m. - Injuries were reported during a rear-end collision on Route 3 Southbound near Exit 33.

Paramedics Treat Fist Fight Participants on Sycamore Street

The following are excepts from the Chelmsford Fire Department log from March 10 to 16, 2013

  March 10, 12:28 a.m. - Paramedics checked out two victims from Berkeley Drive involved in a fist fight on Sycamore Street. March 10, 6:43 p.m. - A Chelmsford resident and an individual from Rhode Island were treated following a motor vehicle accident at the corner of Crosby Lane and North Road. March 12, 8:13 p.m. - An individual from Townsend received assistance with a motor vehicle lockout at the Drum Hill Dunkin Donuts. March 15, 12:16 p.m. - Firefighters responded to a concerned person on Chelsmford Street worried about a nearby smokestack. Hi Anna, I have not heard anything. Usually there are not updates given to the public, which I believe is due to patient privacy issues. Even then, there's a very fine line between the public's right to know and privacy in situations like these. Excluding arrests, I believe it is ethically appropriate not to disclose exact residential addresses on any calls in police or fire logs. If there is …   more ›

Parts of Parkhurst Road Smelled Like Natural Gas

Chelmsford Fire Department log for the week of March 3 to 9, 2013.

  March 5, 7:45 a.m. - A fire alarm went off on Stearns Street, but after further investigation, no smoke was found. March 6, 5:56 a.m. - Firefighters investigated the smell of natural gas coming out of a building on Parkhurst Road. March 6, 9:22 a.m. - A man suffered a broken leg in the rear of a business on Tyngsboro Road and was treated by paramedics. March 8, 2:30 p.m. -There was an investigation for a reported motor vehicle fire on Groton Road. March 8, 3:12 p.m. - The natural gas odor returned to Parkhurst Road, this time outdoors and on a different part of the street. .

  Feb. 24, 3:19 p.m. - Near the corner of Garrison and Littleton roads, an arcing wire reportedly set a nearby tree on fire. Feb. 24, 4:56 p.m. - Firefighters investigated a slight odor of gas near Footpath Road. Feb. 26, 9:38 p.m. - Reports of smoke in a residence prompted an investigation on Sturbridge Drive. March 1, 3:14 p.m. - A man required medical attention after being kicked in the face by a horse on a street in town. March 2, 12:30 p.m. - The smell of electrical burning necessitated an investigation on Alpine Lane.

Drum Hill Rotary Onramp Closed Last Week Following Rollover

Chelmsford Fire Log for the week of Feb. 10 to 16.

Feb. 10, 4:23 p.m. - Firefighters investigated a gaseous odor on Spaulding Street. Feb. 11, 11:41 a.m. - A trailer caught on fire on Littleton Road. Feb. 13, 12:29 p.m. - A customer inside a business on Chelmsford Road received assistance for a hamstring injury. Feb. 14, 12:52 p.m. - There were injured parties after a motor vehicle crashed into a fire hydrant on School Street. Feb. 14, 8:07 p.m. - Paramedics were on the scene to address injuries from a vehicle rollover at the onramp to Route 3 North at the Drum Hill Rotary. The exit ramp was closed for an extended period of time to address the situation and units from Lowell were on the scene to provide assistance.
