Chelmsford has dozens of police staff, but just one (baker's) dozen were worthy of honors at the 2013 Chelmsford Police Foundation Annual Awards Breakfast at the Princeton Station this week. Two were extricated from a vehicle with the Jaws of Life after an accident on Acton Road.
According to Chelmsford Police, two people were extricated from a vehicle Saturday evening after a car accident on Acton Road, three were transported to the hospital. The accident call came in around 6 p.m. Saturday night, police said. The crash happened at the intersection of Acton Road and High Street. According to police, a driver and passenger were extricated from one car with the Jaws of Life and then transported to the hospital. The other driver was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign and transported to the hospital. Both cars suffered significant damage, police said. The severity of the injuries are unknown at this time.

Suspect nearly struck State Troopers while running checkpoint.
A Somerville man faces a long list of charges after allegedly running a State Police sobriety checkpoint in Lowell and then wrecking his car in downtown Chelmsford early Saturday morning. Thomas Leedberg, 25, is charged with OUI-liquor (2nd offense), assault with a dangerous weapon (a car), reckless operation of a motor vehicle, speeding and other motor vehicle violations, according to a State Police spokesman. He is expected to be arraigned Monday in Lowell District Court. According to a State Police report, the incident began around 1:25 a.m., when Leedberg approached a sobriety checkpoint established by State Police on Thorndike Road. The two brothers, 17-year old Tam Mai and and 23-year-old Thanh Mai have been charged with dozens of crimes ranging from breaking into homes to illegal possession of dangerous weapons.
Late this afternoon, Chelmsford Police announced the arrest of two brothers from Vermont connected in a string of break ins and other assorted crimes throughout Chelmsford over the past month, focused specifically in the Westlands. After an investigation by Chelmsford Police inspector Jeff Blodgett had identified possible suspects, the pair was apprehended by Officer Steve Hawkins on Wednesday. UPDATE 2:59 P.M.: We've been told the suspect fled from a Massachusetts State Police traffic stop on Technology Drive, initiating the search. K9 teams, helicopters and State Police teams are in the area searching for the individual. UPDATE: 3:24 P.M.: The individual has been apprehended and is in custody at Sherwin-Williams.

The Lowell Sun is reporting that a Chelmsford girl, Jasmine Elmore, has gone missing. She is described as 5"4, 120 lbs. and wearing grey sweatpants and a green sweatshirt. Judith Ann Chartier was last seen in 1982. On Thursday, bones were found at a house she once called home on Gorham Street, but investigators did not confirm any connection.
Chelmsford Police have found bones from a home where a girl who disappeared in 1982 never to be seen again was last seen. A two-day search at the 54 Gorham St. property revealed that "several bones" were being taken as evidence by Middlesex County District Attorney Gerard Leone's office according to the Lowell Sun. The Sun report indicated that neither the District Attorney's office or the Chelmsford Police Department would confirm that the investigation is centering on Chartier's disappearance, stating that it was only a "evidentiary search."
