Turf Field Construction Is Officially Underway

After months of planning and fundraising, the turf field project is now officially under construction after yesterday's groundbreaking.

It's finally here. Well, almost. Today, we want to get your take on the turf fields. You've heard all the arguments before, so we'll leave it to you. For more on the ceremony and the turf fields, check out Chelmsford Public Schools technology director Anne Marie Fiore's photos and videos from the ceremony as well as the Chelmsford Turf Fields page on the Chelmsford Public Schools website and the Chelmsford Turf Fields Facebook page.

Obviously Mr. Gault doesn't know how to spell his own name. It's "Galt" if you're trying to refer to Ayn Rand's literary character. This has ZERO to do with 9 North Road and if you're Mr. Van Liew, I suggest crawling back under your rock. Michael - I realize that this has been a grass roots effort, but that doesn't change the fact that the town has had several opportunities to invest in the …   more ›

Chelmsford High Earns More Honors In New Top Schools List

Earlier this month, Newsweek named Chelmsford High as one of the top thousand high schools in America, and now a publication here in the Bay State says Chelmsford High is in the Commonwealth's top 100.

After being named as the 773rd best high school in America by Newsweek earlier this month, Chelmsford High has received another award, this time from a publication closer to home. GoLocalWorcester has named CHS as #90 in its Second Annual Massachusetts' Top High Schools list. The website ranked 345 public, charter and and technical schools across the state in a formula developed at Babson College to measure criteria such as test scores, student-teacher ratios, and graduation rates to name a few. Chelmsford jumped from 116th in last year's poll. Other nearby schools on the list included Wilmington (#99), Groton-Dunstable (#87), Shawsheen Tech (#74), Westford Academy (#44), Minuteman Tech (#40), Littleton (#35), Acton-Boxborough (#23), …

The rankings don't surprise me. As my kids progressed through our schools, we saw the quality steadily decline. Time and again, it was always the best teachers that my older child had that were gone by the time my youngest reached that grade two years later. It tended to happen in waves; a bunch retired early when there were budget cutbacks, more left for other towns during the period that …   more ›
