Local Charity Responds to an "SOS" for Cats

A small nonprofit works to rescue abandoned cats in Chelmsford, Lowell, and Methuen.

Mark Hannon first became involved in animal rehabilitation when his friend, Christine Perkins, asked for his help. "Christine…found four kittens whose mom was not to be found and they were around three days old. And she asked me to help her take care of the kittens. So we did around the clock feedings every three hours," he siad. The pair decided to have a meeting to discuss what would happen if one of them became unable to take care of the cats due to health or financial reasons. The end result, occurring about a year and a half ago, was the creation of a start-up nonprofit company dedicated to animal rehabilitation founded by Hannon, Perkins, and Donna Ambrosini, who has been taking care of stray cats since about 1996.  The goal of …
