Friday's mock car crash was shown to juniors and seniors.
Chelmsford High School juniors and seniors on Friday saw a mock car-crash meant to show the dangers of drinking and driving. The Chelmsford High School prom is at the Copley Marriott at on May 30. Chelmsford police, Chelmsford firefighters, Trinity EMS, Christopher's Towing and Dolan Funeral Home all particiapted in the annual mock crash.

U.S. News has ranked the state and nation's high schools.
U.S. News has ranked Chelmsford High School as number 47 in the state. It is ranked at number 1,146 nationally. The rankings are based on a list of criteria. Some statistics include: Chelmsford last summer was named as #28 in best places to live by Money Magazine.

Police have secured Chelmsford High School after a bomb threat was discovered yesterday, meant for today.
Security is heightened at Chelmsford High School today after police discovered a reported bomb threat written in a bathroom yesterday. According to a message sent to parents of Chelmsford High students, a threat was made for today, May 3. The administration is working with police to investigate the threat. There were two controlled areas for entry into Chelmsford High today: the front of the building and the gym. Nobody else will be allowed to enter in a different part of the building today, police said. Donating to the Arts and Technology Education Fund, or ATEF, is a great way to let teachers know how much you appreciate them.
Chelmsford Public Schools is seeking donations to its Arts and Technology Education Fund, which is supplemental funding for the schools to support educational initiatives and projects in the form on grants. With National Teacher Appreciation Week (May 7-11) approaching, Chelmsford Public Schools wants to call out to all parents and remind them that this a great way to show appreciation to teachers by donating to the ATEF in their name. According to Chelmsford Schools, you may make a donation in the name of any teacher or staff member at the preschool, elementary, middle or high school level. Chelmsford Public Schools wants your opinion on school lunchs.
Chelmsford Public Schools wants your opinion on school lunches. An online survey has been set up here for parents and students of Chelmsford Public School students. The survey asks to give the lunch services a grade of A through F, and asks what can be done to improve the school lunches, what new menu suggestions people may have, and whether or not families would be interested in a breakfast program. As the schools come into compliance with new federal guidelines, parents have expressed concern over school lunches.

The principal said everything is now under control and school is in session today.
Principal Irene Hanningan told parents of students at South Row School that the building was evacuated around 2 p.m. yesterday after a smell of gas coming from the kitchen. "We immediately called the fire department who advised us to evacuate the school. ecause it was raining quite hard, and I felt we had sufficient time, I made an announcement for students and staff to quickly put on their coats before proceeding to the basketball courts," Hannigan wrote in an e-mail. As a way to open the lines of communication between the School Department and community members and showcase good news, the district has started a local cable access show called "Inside CPS." The half-hour show is produced monthly and includes interviews with students and faculty, information about upcoming events and highlights events that don't get much press otherwise - like a science fair or social. Fundraising has begun for this year's Chelmsford High School after prom, and help is needed now more than ever to raise money for this annual event, meant to keep students safe after the dance. "We barely raise enough to continue with what we usually have every year," said Noni Smith, who organizes the after prom. This year the after prom will include the typical fun events and prizes, she said. "We normally have food, achocolate fountain, three caricature artists, a DJ, a photo booth and air brush tattoos," she said. "We don't spend much on decorations. The School Committee met on Tuesday to discuss next year's school budget, which will increase $1.43 million over this year's budget, or about 3 percent. Chelmsford Public School business manager Kathy McWilliams summarized the budget for the committee. “We’re thrilled, because some towns don’t get any (monetary) addition, ... they cut it,” she said. “We’re pleased, we’re thankful the town of Chelmsford helps us. But to do better, that’s the forecast, and we need more.” Despite the increase, McWilliams said the fiscal 2013 budget was tight, and that the majority of the budget bump comes from salary increases. “It pretty much is a needs-based budget,” said McWilliams, “There really isn’t a lot extra for operating costs.” The town contributes…

To rate the high schools on some of the criteria shown above is a mistake. Some of those criteria points have nothing to do with how good a High School is in our State. Therefore I wouldn't pay any attention to this type of list. Based upon the more relevant criteria, Chelmsford High School is probably right near the top, and probably in the top ten.   more ›
