Pan-Mass Challenge Weekend Arrives for 18 Chelmsford Riders
Raising money for cancer, about 5,500 riders will participate in the Pan-Mass Challenge, including several from Chelmsford.
Riding a bicycle is a great workout. But for a group of Chelmsford residents, their time on two wheels this weekend has a much greater meaning.
A total of 18 Chelmsford resident are riding in the 34th annual PMC, which aims to raise more than $38 million to support cancer research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through the Jimmy Fund.
The fundraising event kicks off on Saturday and lasts through Sunday. Since 1980, riders have raised a total of $375 million through the Pan-Mass Challenge.

“It’s a powerful and emotional weekend for everyone involved,” said Pan-Mass Challenge founder and executive director Billy Starr, according to a press release. “From the cyclists, to volunteers, staff and family and friends along the route, the PMC unifies 10,000 people for one weekend to make a difference and raise funds to eradicate cancer.”
