Chelmsford Run for Bauman Raises $10,000

A fundraising event over the weekend helped support Boston Marathon bombing victim and Chelmsford native Jeff Bauman.

Even months after tragedy struck at the Boston Marathon, residents continue to show they are Boston Strong. And as Chelmsford residents showed once again this weekend, they are Bauman Strong.

According to NECN, around 500 runners helped raise more than $10,000 during a road race on Saturday in honor of the Chelmsford native who lost both of his legs in the Boston Marathon bombings.

Bauman was unable to attend the road race, which featured a course of 2.62 miles in homage to the Boston Marathon, which spans 26.2 miles.

"The fact that just a couple of days ago there were only 60 runners signed up and now there is over 500 is simply amazing and speaks wonders for the community of Chelmsford and the surrounding community as well," runner Brian Bates told NECN.
