A Dog's Eye View: Congratulations to Malacky

Now showing: The newest housecleaning gadget no respectable dog-owning household should be without. Especially mine.

Best wishes to the little Pekingnese dog that won this year's Westminster Dog Show. None of my dogs looked impressed by his victory. I, on the other hand was ecstatic. I need one these dogs. Right now, in my house. This is the most awesome dustcatcher I have ever seen. Looks like he can move pretty fast, too. I like it.

Picture this: A ten-room house with no rugs because husky fluff does not vacuum up easily. I have to get my 4th vacuum cleaner in ten years serviced annually now-it's that crazy. I have weekly dust-bunnies that are the size of, well, Flemish Giant rabbits. And aren't most vacuum cleaners supposed to last at least 20 years?

Anyway, after I give my floors a good sweeping that fills a barrell half way, then it's almost safe to attempt to vacuum up the rest. This year the vacuum deserves a replacement hose.

But, if I had a dog like like Malacky all I'd have to do is strategically place very small dog kibble all over the house, and he'd do the work of cleaning the floors while eating his dinner. Then I could take him outside, shake him out, and voila! I'm ready for relaxing with margaritas by 1:30 p.m. on a Saturday afternoon.

Yes, indeed. Sometimes the sky really is pink in my world....
