Chelmsford Hockey Players to "Paint the Rink Pink" This Weekend

Local hockey players to wear pink and support a cure for cancer this weekend.

Local hockey players will “Paint the Rink Pink” to show their support for breast cancer awareness this weekend at the second-annual charity hockey game Saturday against the Lake George Fighting Spirit Saturday, Oct. 20 at 3:30 p.m. at Skate 3 in Tyngsboro.  

The New England Stars play in the Northern States Junior Hockey League and include brothers Joe and Jake Sortarelli and Kyle Emmonds of Chelmsford.

The event will feature a ceremonial puck drop, drawings, and more. All proceeds will go to Dana Farber for cancer research.

“Cancer has touched my life so it will be great to play for such a great cause,” said New England Stars defenseman Cameron Webster, of Boxborough.

Tickets can be purchased at the door for $5 each. The Stars are 4-6 heading into this weekend’s series against the Lake George Fighting Spirit. Last year the event raised more than $6,000.
