Multiple Chelmsford Teams Jockeying for Playoff Positioning

It's been a strong regular season for a variety of Lion teams.

Chelmsford High School winter sports teams are coming down the stretch, and for many of them that means preparing for a possible playoff run.

It's been a strong season across the board for the Lions, with the school fielding competitive squads in each sport. The regular season is nearly completed, as each team has just a handful of games remaining.

The Lions boys basketball team is in the midst of a strong bounce back year, boasting a record of 12-6 so far. The team's 7-6 record in Merrimack Valley play has the locals in second place, and the Lions have won eight of their last nine games after a four-game losing streak midyear.

Also on the hardwood, the Chelmsford girls basketball team will take home some regular season bragging rights. The Lady Lions are 13-2 overall and 10-2 in league play, which should secure the team's spot as regular season Merrimack Valley Small School champs.

Speaking of hardware, the boys swim recently took home a title of its own, winning the Merrimack Valley Conference meet with 404 points to Andover's 311 points.

On the ice, the Chelmsford boys hockey team is in second place behind Central Catholic in the Merrimack Valley/Dual County League Division I with an overall record of 7-5-5. The Lions are 7-3-3 in league play against difficult competition.

Finally, though the Chelmsford girls hockey team is just 2-6-2 in league play, the Lady Lions are over .500 overall. The locals sit at 8-6-3 overall.
