The playoffs start across the state this week, and included in the action will be four Chelmsford teams.

Chelmsford High School's girls basketball team is the top-ranked squad, having earned the No. 5 seed in North Division 1 thanks to a 17-3 regular season record.

The Lady Lions will take on Boston Latin at home on Thursday night. Tip off is scheduled for 7 p.m. and the winner takes on either Woburn or Somerville in the quarterfinal round.

Also on the hardwood, the boys basketball team is the No. 8 team following a record of 13-7 in the regular season. The locals will host Lowell at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, hoping to advance to face top see St. John's Prep in the quarterfinals with a win.

Chelmsford's boys hockey team is the No. 13 squad in North Division 1 play following a 9-6-6 campaign. Despite being the lower seed, the Lions will play Melrose at home on Wednesday at 7:10 p.m.

The winner of that contest will take on either Arlington Catholic or Reading in the quarterfinals of what is a loaded bracket.

The Chelmsford girls hockey team will have to pull a few upsets to advance in the Division 1 tournament. The Lady Lions are the No. 22 seed and will play No. 11 Braintree in Randolph on Tuesday night.

If the locals can advance, they will take on Winthrop/Lynn in the first round.
