Chelmsford Boys Hockey Pulls Away Late for Home Win

Visiting Acton-Boxborough wasn't enough to stop the swarming Lions on Thursday night.

The Chelmsford High School boys hockey team continued its recent hot streak on Thursday night with a convincing win against Acton-Boxboro.

Hosting the Colonials on the ice of Chelmsford Forum, the Lions pulled away late to improve to 6-0-1 in their last seven games.

Sophomore Derek Adamson fed captain Mike DeDonato to put Chelmsford up 1-0 in the first period. Acton-Boxboro knotted things up in the second, but Jesse Lye put the locals back in the lead in the second frame.

Lye notched his second score of the game in the third period, and Wes Phillips added the final tally of the game as the Lions went on to the 4-1 victory.

The win improved Chelmsford to 7-5-4 overall and 7-3-2 in Merrimack Valley/Dual County league play. Acton-Boxboro, meanwhile dipped to 7-4-4 on the year with a 5-2-3 league mark.
