Town Meeting Vote Not Guaranteed for Grinder Pump Issue

The Lowell Sun reports that the topic is not on the latest draft warrant.

Though a vote was expected at spring Town Meeting on the much discussed grinder pump issue, that isn't guaranteed according to a report in the Lowell Sun.

The newspaper reported that the proposal to expand the town's sewer fund to cover the cost of grinder pumps was not included on the latest draft warrant for Town Meeting, which is slated for April 28.

"It's not clear they could be ready for spring Town Meeting," Town Manager Paul Cohen said, according to the newspaper, when discussing the possibility that the committee formed to explore the grinder issue could present the topic during a special session at Town Meeting.

The article in the Lowell Sun was one of the most misleading news stories that I have ever read. A decision WILL be made at the April Town Meeting.

Interesting, Jean-Luc. I will double check with the Town Manager hopefully today and see what he has to say. Thanks for checking in!

The Lowell Sun has been reporting on this issue with misinformation since the issue arose: reader beware! The Sewer Fairness Alliance has two "binding" warrant articles that WILL be before Town Meeting for a vote but I do not underestimate the power of the Town Manager to direct the outcome of that vote.
