Selectmen to Appoint New Council on Aging Director

A look at what selectmen will discuss tonight.

Selectmen will approve the appointment of a new Council on Aging Director and member of the Council on Aging at their meeting tonight.

Town Manager Paul Cohen will suggest two people to fill those posts. Council on Aging Director Diana Ryder will retire at the end of the fiscal year.

Cohen will also announce that the town has won a grant from the Massachusetts Downtown Initiative Technical Assistance (MDI) Program, which will provide up to $10,000 worth of consultant services to assist with a housing study for the town center.

Selectmen will also hear a status report from the Chelmsford Water District.

Cohen last week said the Permanent Building Committee will look to put together an advisory building committee for the fire station project in a few weeks.

"We'll put that request out to the neighborhood ... we want to work with the neighbors to make it best project possible," said Cohen.

Then selectmen will approve of an owner's project manager for the project and contract out the design services for the station.
