Excellent! What a thrill and an honor.
John Doe January 27, 2014 at 08:54 PM
Im sure it will be an amazing experience, one I would not turn down even though the president as a domestic terrorist. But its ashame the president iis using such people as marketing tools to further his anti-american agenda.
Tara Dactyl January 27, 2014 at 09:06 PM
Poor guy...first he lives through the horrific Boston Marathon bombing, and now he has to sit and suffer through an Obama speech.
Iron Mike January 28, 2014 at 06:42 AM
After 9/11, I watched my next-door neighbor being used repeatedly in photo-ops by John Kerry. He was still in shock, and as a life-time Dem actually thought Kerry cared. Lurch just wanted TV time.... Jeff is being used for Obama's propaganda spin. Very sad. Maybe he will ask why Dzhokhar Tsarnaev hasn't been brought to trial yet, - and why Obama hasn't caught the Benghazi attackers that CNN tracked down and interviewed... Want REAL fame Jeff? Stand up like Joe Wilson and yell out "YOU LIE!"
Al January 28, 2014 at 08:08 AM
Ladies and gentlemen, I present another episode of "totally predictable angry townie theatre". Tonight's episode, a special heartfelt plea for victims of the Boston bombing to fight the politicization of their suffering by.... Further politicizing their suffering. Well played, you are as transparent as those you rail against. But kudos for suggesting we raise that bar of political discourse, though it's odd to pick Joe Wilson as the top level. Why stop there? let's go back to Preston Brooks!
Tyler Jozefowicz January 28, 2014 at 09:22 AM
Disgusting people. You figured they would lay off the far right politics for once, especially under these circumstances , but they did the same thing the other day with the 12 year old girl that got an achievement award from Gov Duval Patrick for her community services at the state House. All you facilitators that come to their rescue all the time take note.
Iron Mike January 28, 2014 at 10:29 AM
Not sure Al what dots you're trying to connect...? Preston Brooks was a South Carolina DEMOCRAT Representative - fervently pro-slavery, who became famous for beating Mass Senator Charles Sumner [an abolitionist] with a cane on the floor of the US Senate. What has THAT got to do with Obama pimping Jeff Bauman to distract frorm his leadership failures?
Andrew Sylvia (Editor) January 28, 2014 at 11:27 AM
Careful, Al.
Rob C January 28, 2014 at 01:27 PM
Hmm, does Obama not realize that the world would not know who Jeff Bauman is and that he would not be in the condition that he is in if it wasn’t for the inept actions of his administration? Specifically the complete failure of his justice department to do a complete and thorough investigation of somebody that they were warned about (twice) by a foreign intelligence agency. Maybe Obama is inviting him down there so that he can publicly apologize to him for his administrations inaction and failure to protect the public.
Tyler Jozefowicz January 28, 2014 at 02:41 PM
If you think that every terrorist attack can be prevented you're smoking more dope than I thought. I'm sure you were the first to blame Cheney for lying us into an Iraq War because Sadam wanted to kill Bush's father , and Bush paying no attention to Rice's report of Al Qaeda which resulted in the first terrorist attack on US soil that cost 3000 lives , property destruction , and the 4500 dead soldiers and 40 thousand wounded requiring VA help now, unpaid for , resulting in another 2 trillion on the debt. I'd have a little more respect for your comments if you opened your mouth about that. It doesn't take much sense to know you are politically driven here, turning a state of the union appearance meant to unify into a political stunt.
Iron Mike January 28, 2014 at 02:57 PM
You nailed it Tyler! I am politically driven – to get back to the days when elected and appointed government officials actually believed in our Constitution - and actually honored their OATHS to uphold, protect and defend it. I will continue to call out these socialist, communist and Muslim traitors wherever I see them. I will continue to call out their supporters as 'useful idiots' – whoever they may be. I too took that OATH. I will continue to honor it. I will defend our Constitution from ALL enemies, - foreign or domestic. FYI: The SotU address is NOT meant to 'unify' – it is a REPORT. Please read Article II, Section 3 before you reply....
Rob C January 28, 2014 at 03:14 PM
OK Tyler, On Iraq, I was never in favor of it and we should never have gone in there again, however since you bring it up, there was no “lie”. Do your research, BOTH Clintons, Kerry everyone else on the intel boards and numerous other countries intelligence agencies including Russia and France all said the same thing. Was this a vast conspiracy by both parties and the intel communities around the world orchestrated by Bush to go into Iraq? If it was then he was a much smarter person than you and I give him credit for. On a side note, Sadams generals were surprised after the war that they were never found. Also at the beginning of the war intel reports of massive military convoys heading into Syria were never investigated, you could argue that the WMD were on those trucks and since WMD were used recently in Syria it is a possibility. On 9/11, the attack was planned and people put in place well into Clintons admin and before Bush was even elected. The intel report you address was an extremely vague report saying that AQ wanted to attack us. I knew they wanted to attack us, they had before, I didn’t need a report from the CIA to tell me that. The report by the CIA had no names or locations of an attack, just that they wanted to. Obama was given the exact name of who to be take a close look at by the Russians on two separate occasions and yet they failed to heed the warnings and do anything about it. Instead he continued to give welfare to the person and allow him to stay in the country. Check who signed the bill that cut VA funding. The State of the Union is meant to be a message to Congress on where we stand and what the President wants them to do and I believe we should just go back to the old way of doing it and having the President just send a letter to congress instead of taking up my valuable TV time with his propaganda and lies, I’m glad I have cable and a DVR. And finally it is Obama that has turned it into a political stunt by inviting him. I am simply pointed out that his administration is responsible for it. Sorry if that offends you.
Rob C January 28, 2014 at 03:19 PM
And I was also against going into Afghanistan, that should have been taken care of by a B2 and a couple well dropped nukes and called it a day. And on a side note, more have died there since Obama took office than when Bush was running it.
Vincent DiRico January 28, 2014 at 04:25 PM
Best to Jeff Bauman at the state of the coup ---> http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2014/01/28/obama-to-raise-federal-minimum-wage-in-executive-action-tied-to-state-union/ ---> what an O-bozo.
Tyler Jozefowicz January 28, 2014 at 04:38 PM
I'm fully aware of what a State of the Union speech is . It is customary, started way back with Reagan ( maybe earlier) to recognize people in the audience for their contributions to the country. Bush ignored the 911 warning signs , Clinton briefed him and Bush ignored them , rather vacation down in Crawford. There were no WMDs , never found . To fabricate that the whole nuclear program fled to Syria is imbecillic. You need a nuclear structure in place in Iraq to test , develop- none of that can be " moved to Syria". Your theory is a pipe dream. It would have been easy for Bush to fabricate the evidence , but he's too stupid for that. Let's not rewrite history here. A whole bunch of govt officials were lied to, including Colin Powell. Neocons were calling the shorts. All US wars are paid for in real time , Bush put 2 Trillion on the charge card. " Obama" wasn't given the " exact names" ; Homeland security/ intelligence units/ FBI was and had them and thousands of others under surveillance, not " Obama". Bush pushed Iraq. To turn an appearance of a wounded Chelmsford native into a political game is pathetic. Your argument should be with some of the nut jobs commenting here. Nuke 'Afghanistan". On another side note , it is " Obama " that is drawing down and it was Bush that got us in . Ridiculous to blame the guy seeking to withdraw. less died there because bush focused on Iraq for nothing. In fact more al Qaeda are in iraq than when Bush attacked. If you are in favor of immediate withdrawal from Afghanistan , just say so.
Rob C January 28, 2014 at 05:19 PM
I think you mixed up too strong a batch of Liberal Kool Aid today Tyler. Please site the exact record where Clinton told Bush that AQ was going to fly planes into NYC on 9/11. He never did anything of the sort. He told Bush that AQ wanted to attack us. That warning goes into the common sense category since they had done it before and said they were going to do it again. Obamas admin was given an exact name of somebody that was trouble and did nothing about it(read that far right Koch Brothers backed rag called The Boston Globe for that info). Those are two entirely different things. If Clinton was so worried about OBL attacking us why did he not pick him up when he was offered up all nice and giftwrapped by Sudan? The WMD were chemical, not nuclear, remember we knew he had them because the US along with the French sold them to Iraq when they were fighting Iran. They were unaccounted for during inspections and recent intel and investigative reports from the far right New York Times in the last couple years say that they went to Syria and were used there recently. I am sure that you are correct Tyler, it was a vast campaign to lie to the world by the US and countries that were against the war from the get go about Iraq. You may also want to check the facts on Obamas withdrawals from places. It is funny how they are all happening almost exactly along the same timeline that was put forward by Bush. Do your research Tyler, do your research and be open minded about things when you do it instead of looking at them from your extreme left wing partisan view. You may even learn a thing or two about historical facts that get distorted when you have your liberal blinders on.
Tyler Jozefowicz January 28, 2014 at 06:11 PM
There you go again , chastising and preaching, as usual. Do some homework yourself besides FOX. The "aluminum rods" were for nuclear capabilities . Remember Congolezza Rice talking about mushroom clouds? UN inspectors scoured the place and found NOTHING. Powell going to the UN and finding out Bush Admin made a fool of him. Your theory . Sadam snuck them into Syria when no one was looking. Really? Syria had their own chemical capabilities . The Isrealis discovered that long ago. Clinton discussed Al Qaeda with Bush before Clinton left office, telling him Al Qaeda was the greatest terrorist threat , when Bush couldn't even spell the name . Bush brushed Clinton off. There was nothing discussed about 911 or planes . Where did you come up with that fiction? Congress all agree they were made dopes off; Bush relied on a serial lier for his Iraq intel ( 60 minutes did a good expose), and never verified the lies , but went to war anyway. try opening your mind to what i just stated. If you are so in favor of the Iraq war , then get the 2 trillion in tax money up that it cost us. Speaking of research and blinders, Clinton didn't pick Osama up in Sudan , but Obama did in Pakistan , when Bush refused to mention OBL by name during his last 4 years and mentioned the OBL didn't matter any more. The whole historical consensus of thought is that Bush went to war on a lie , purposeful or through negligence, except in the minds of some diehard apologists. that research thing again.
Rob C January 28, 2014 at 06:43 PM
Since you do not understand what I write, this will be my final comment on the subject to you Tyler. I will try and be as specific and direct as I can so that you understand. First, I stated I was not in favor of Iraq so your comments that I was in favor of it is a lie. Second. Fact is that military convoys were seen in sat/aerial intel pics going to Syria. Nobody ever found out what was on them. WMD’s that we were after were of the chemical variety and could fit on those trucks and possibly turned up and used in Syria in the last year or two. Go back and look at what past presidents and leaders of foreign countries said about WMD and Iraq. It was not a Bush led conspiracy as you seem to believe it was, unless the dim bulb was a secret genius that got the entire world to agree with him even though they were against the idea of war with Iraq. Third, you’re the one that said that Clinton warned Bush about 9/11. All I said was that all Clinton did was to state the obvious. I know Clinton didn’t pick OBL up in Sudan, I told you that. He was offered up by the Sudan Government and Clinton turned them down on the offer and left him alone. Finally, you have done a good job of deflecting the discussion away from the topic at hand and specifically my initial comment which is that the Obama administration royally screwed up on the entire Tsarnav situation. I still think that it is an odd choice for him to bring him down there, when if his Justice and Homeland Security departments had done their job and followed up on two direct, specific intel leads from a foreign intelligence agency they could have prevented the entire incident from happening.
Tyler Jozefowicz January 28, 2014 at 07:04 PM
This is my last comment to you and I am done with you as well. the issue was not whether you were in favor of the iraq war; the issue was whether bush lied about WMDs . i have stated my case. You neglected the nuclear aspect. I pointed that out to you. You made an absurd statement about nuking Afghanistan. i pointed that out to you. You cite no real evidence that chemical weapons were transported to Syria. that would require Syrian's being complicite. You admit you have nothing to back that up. I pointed that out to you as well. You failed to mention that obama killed Osama and bush ignored the follow-up. i also pointed that out to you . You ignored a number of factual aspects , and cite convenient and half-truths . i'm pointing that out to you now. for someone that suggest doing research, I would suggest you do some . I suggest you d that because you blatantly ignor some of the most obvious points germane to you prime arguments . Convenience does not substitute for completeness. If a mind needs to be opened i would suggest that you focus on your own.
Vincent DiRico January 28, 2014 at 07:25 PM
"Clinton briefed him" -> a real soldier that bubu, he was rougher on the woman he assaulted than OBL
Vincent DiRico January 28, 2014 at 07:25 PM
"bush lied about WMDs " -> dear mr eisenstein did I miss YOUR "proof"?
Rob C January 28, 2014 at 07:39 PM
I did miss one thing Tyler, I did say Afghanistan should have been solved with a single B2 flight and I stand by that. We knew where he was in the mountains in the days after 9/11 and before we could get troops on the ground. A simple flight of a stealth bomber with a couple low yield tactical field nukes would have been perfect for the job. That little corner of the planet produces nothing useful to the rest of the world, all it exports is terrorists and drugs, nothing that would be missed. Yes a simple nuke attack would have taken care of OBL and his followers and saved us a ton of cash and lives. Since you are all caught up on the lives lost and the money spent you should be all in favor of it. Would of only cost us the price of a tank of gas for the plane. The bombs were added to the debt years ago.
Carol Londres January 28, 2014 at 07:43 PM
This is wonderful. Hope he'll have an incredible visit in Washington. What a proud moment for anyone!
Tyler Jozefowicz January 28, 2014 at 08:22 PM
I'm not in favor of nuclear strikes of any sort. OBL is dead now. Nuclear drop would not cause Al Qaeda to go away then and it will not cause it to go away now. I am absolutely flabergast at the fact that you want to resort to nuclear weapons and attempt to explain it here with a straight face- "simple flight, ...price of a tank of gas". You can't be serious , but I guess you are, judging from your detailed approach to it. I agree, let's not spend any more time on this distraction. WISHING JEFF BAUMAN health and happiness, and look forward to see you in the gallery tonight with applause from everyone. Best of luck, Jeff.
Iron Mike January 28, 2014 at 10:47 PM
Just watched that pathetically lame platitude-filled excuse for a SotU – Jeff was not mentioned or highlighted. A horribly wounded 10-deployment Airborne Ranger – SFC Cory Remsburg was recognized – and received the ONLY long Standing O of the night. For his part, Obama filled 65 minutes with lame half-truths, erroneous 'facts' and outright lies. The funniest was claiming that man-made climate change “is a FACT” - on the same day we have an artic cold wave reaching New Orleans. Obama looks like he's on drugs...
Vincent DiRico January 29, 2014 at 07:32 AM
Hats off to Cory Remsburg! ---> Mr 0 did his part for "climate change" with that sorry recycled speech. ---> No longer should ANYONE expect the "earth to heal", the deficit to really be cut, the middle class to be better off, health care to be affordable, ... $10.10 per hour does not lift anyone out of poverty, he is a dolt! ... just a dolt doing his time. Pathetic!
Iron Mike January 29, 2014 at 09:39 AM
Anybody else notice that Deval Patrick and Obama delivered nearly IDENTICAL speeches last night? Yes, there is a vast Socialist Conspiracy!
Anna Bucciarelli January 30, 2014 at 07:52 AM
It's very simple guys, blame who you will but ... war is simply the unfolding of miscalculations.
Iron Mike January 30, 2014 at 08:10 AM
Not always Anna. Count Alfred von Schlieffen, Chief of the Kaiser's General Staff, spent the last 17 years of his life planning in finite detail the twin attacks on France and Russia which started WWI. Then in 1938-39 – the pre-Obama corporal spent over a year plotting to attack first Poland, then Russia. Yes, you ~ might ~ say both miscalculated...
