North Chelmsford Buddhist Temple Closed After Violations

The incident was just the latest in a troubled recent history for North Chelmsford's Trairatanaram Temple.

The Trairatanaram Temple on Quigley Avenue in North Chelmsford has been deemed unsafe and closed after an inspection last week by town officials found numerous building code violations.

In a report from the Lowell Sun, the temple was found to not have a working fire-suppression system, half a dozen illegally set up bedrooms, blocked exits, a heating boiler covered with flammable material, an electrical connection illegally set up with an adjacent home and other violations.

In the Lowell Sun report, temple officials say a treasurer from another faction of the temple has alleged embezzled $20,000 in temple funds.

The incident was the latest controversy for the temple, which was implicated in a sex tape scandal earlier this year.
