For the life of me, I can not figure out why bikes follow the rules of motor vehicles, with the way our roads have become so crowded with traffic, and the aggressiveness, and distracted drivers why don't bikes and walkers go against the traffic. I always did on my bike and I avoided being hit many times, because you see them coming, and you can get out of the way. Even walking I see people walking double breast with backs to traffic, and have an I-POD plugged in their ear. The laws have to change. A bike is not a car. They need to see what is coming at them.

I agree Linda, problem with bicyclists is that they want to be part of the road and follow the rules of the road for cars and at the same time they also act like pedestrians and expect you to stop right away when they want to cross the street. They also ride up the middle of the street and not on the side of the road where they belong.

I have seen them two abreast and racing each other, I have seen cars trying to get by them and getting very frustrated, and clearly you could see the bikers think it's funny. I was leaving Walmart in Hudson NH and had the green light to go, and before going I looked to my right and seen a bike coming through the red light and he was flying so fast, if he had broadsided me he would have been killed. I don't know why they think or assume all cars will see them coming, or try to avoid them. They need to be more aware of the roads and the traffic laws. I believe they need to have bikes obeying bike riding laws, and not motor vehicle laws. And they should be facing on coming traffic. Or at least make bikes with rear view and side mirrors. But then again would the bikers use them.
