Smoke in Drum Hill Building Came From Burnt Food

The following are excerpts from the Chelmsford Fire Department log.

Oct. 29, 1:18 p.m. – A smoldering pole was reported on Amble Road. No one in the area lost power, but a fire was reported near some wiring connected to the pole.

National Grid was able to resolve the issue within 30 minutes.

Nov. 1, 9:19 a.m. – A fallen tree near the intersection of Manning Road and Carlisle Street required a response from fire, police and highway department officials.

The tree fell on some wires, causing them to arc, but no fires or other damage was reported.

National Grid was able to fix the wires within approximately 45 minutes.

Nov. 1, 11:04 a.m. – Nearby, some more wires were reported down, however this time no tree was involved.

A nearby pole was on fire, but it did not spread to any of the wires.

Traffic was diverted and power was reportedly lost in the area due to the incident, with National Grid arriving on the scene approximately an hour after the incident was reported in.

Nov. 2, 8:24 p.m. – Units were called in after smoke was removed inside a store on Drum Hill Road. After investigation, the cause of the smoke was determined to be burnt food from a unit above the store.
