The Lowell Sun is reporting that rape charges against a Littleton Road man have been dropped due to disinterest in pressing charges from the victim.
David Meltzer, 54, of 288 Littleton Rd. was told by Lowell District Court judge Thomas Brennan on Monday that the rape charges would be dropped, although an assault and battery charge is still pending.
"This to me is one of the most hideous crimes against anyone and I professed my innocence from the very beginning,'' Meltzer told a Sun reporter in an email.
He faces a trial date of April 8, 2014.
