Parker Road Resident Needs Fire Department Help With Burnt Ham

The following are excerpts from the Chelmsford Fire Department log

Nov. 25, 12:09 p.m. – Firefighters responded to a reported brush fire on Brick Kiln Road.

The fire was extinguished within a minute upon arriving at the scene, ten minutes later, residents in the area disposed of ashes from the fire.

Nov. 26, 9:38 p.m. –Thanksgiving was still two days away, but firefighters responded to a cooking mishap on Parker Road.

One resident put out a fire coming from what was reported as a burnt ham, but smoke was still lingering.

Firefighters arrived to help with ventilation efforts and disposed of the ham.

Nov. 29, 10:17 p.m. – A woman on Rutledge Avenue reported that she heard a “pop” coming from her basement and had also seen some smoke.

It was determined approximately 10 minutes later that the furnace was the problem. Crews also checked the basement for air quality issues.

Wonder if "disposed" = "ate"? Where were the police?

Who cooks ham for Thanksgiving? Oops ... it was 2 days before ... my mistake. Paul, don't think if it caused that much smoke it could be eaten by humans .. I'd have hung it in a mesh bag for the birds to nibble on.

I've been at Thanksgivings where they've had hams along with turkeys! Still, you're right Anna, that's definitely more of a Christmas thing.

Only in America Andy ... a royal roast of Beef, or Pork, Lamb or Goose is what I think of when I think of Christmas Dinner. Think this year it will be a stuffed crown Pork roast, but I may change my mind and go for a lovely, juicy prime rib roast of Beef. (Making your mouth water?)

Maybe ... but there are already a number of cooking columns and another one may be redundant, you think? I have thought of it upon occasion, then I remember I have no way to take pics as do the other bloggers ... I still don't know all there is to know about these new "machines" we use these days:). Anyway, if I ever do decide to do a cooking blog you may be sure it will feature only Italian.
