Mass. Man Arrested in Turnpike Chase

NH State Police charged the man with felony reckless conduct, disobeying a police officer and driving after suspension.

New Hampshire State Police arrested a Massachusetts man after a chase July 12 on the F.E. Everett Turnpike that involved the driver allegedly driving over a median and driving north against the traffic.

Police said Herbert H. Myers Jr., 45, of North Chelmsford, Mass., was arrested and charged with felony reckless conduct, disobeying a police officer and driving after suspension.

Police said a trooper observed a car driving erratically southbound on the turnpike at about 11:45 p.m. on Saturday night and, when he attempted to stop it, the driver accelerated away and left the turnpike at Exit 11 in Merrimack and then started to drive northbound in the southbound lane.

Troopers ended the pursuit, for safety reasons, and broadcast the position to local police departments. A trooper soon located the car in the Merrimack Premium Outlets and the investigation led officers to 36 Bay Ridge Drive in Nashua, where the driver was identified and arrested without incident, according to police.

Myers is scheduled to be arraigned in Merrimack District Court on July 14.
