Is Chelmsford Ranked Among the Safest Towns in Massachusetts?

Find out in a recently-released list by Safewise.com.

A number of towns around Middlesex County have been listed among the "50 safest communities in Massachusetts."

Chelmsford, however, was not among them. 

The Safewise.com list, released last week, highlighted the low crime rates and other local programs of surrounding communities. Sudbury earned the top spot on the list.

Closest to Chelmsford on the list was Westford, which came in at No. 15 and was described as a "wonderland of natural beauty. Dotted with apple orchards, sprinkled with lakes and boasting more than 2,000 acres of conservation land, you’ll never tire of Westford’s stunning landscape."

Westford features a violent crimes per 1,000 residents rate of .49, with a property crimes per 1,000 rate of 7.15.

Also among the nearby towns ranked by Safewise.com was Lexington at No. 14, Concord at No. 30 and Groton at No. 32.
