Chelmsford Church Calls Police Following Thanksgiving Week Hate Mail

Nov. 20, 4:18 p.m. - One man was upset after he felt he was defrauded by an ATM machine at the Gulf Station on Tyngsboro Road.

The man tried to withdraw $200 earlier in the day, but the ATM would not let him, although he checked later elsewhere to see that he did have $200 in his bank account.

After checking his account, the man returned to complain an employee of the store who said that it was a matter for the bank. At this point, the man became irate and the employee asked the man to leave.

The officer on the call advised the man to check with his bank to resolve the problem and after the man left, the officer offered advice to the employee on a no trespassing order as the employee told the officer this man had caused problems in the past.

Nov. 22, 12:15 p.m. - A member of the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church called the police after receiving a disturbing letter.

The letter addressed to the woman at the church advised her to stop doing a variety of activities ranging from using to computers to speaking in public, condemning a variety of things ranging from homosexuality to abortion to "witchcraft."

It was not indicated who sent the letter, with the pseudonym "Prophet" being used as the signature at the bottom of the letter.

Although there were no threats of violence, the church member requested additional patrols for the near future due to threats from similar letters in the past.

Dec. 3, 3:32 p.m. - A man was asked to leave Hannaford after the store received complaints about him talking too loudly on his cellphone while shopping.

The man was hesitant to leave at first, making gestures at the officer after getting off the phone, but eventually he left the building and boarded a bus at the nearby bus stop.

Dec. 15, 2:27 p.m. - A man on Littleton Road called police to complain about how his driveway was plowed. The officer on the call did not see any issue and advised the man to talk to his landlord.
