Arrests Made for Drug Charges, Assault and Battery on Police Officer

Chelmsford Police Department officers made several arrests in recent days. Below are those arrests, which do not indicate a conviction.

Sunday, May 18

  • Police made a motor vehicle stop on Brick Kiln Road, and ended the incident with one person in custody. Craig Allan Pickering, 51, of 364 Amory Street, Manchester, N.H., was arrested at the scene. Pickering was charged with possession with intent to distribute Class B drugs, conspiracy to violate controlled substance laws, attaching plates to a motor vehicle, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.
  • After a traffic stop on Old Westford Road, the responding officer requested back up for a suspicious vehicle. Following the incident, police arrested Brian R. Smelstor, 35, of 34 Birchwood Road, Methuen. Smelstor was charged with assault and battery on a police officer.
  • Officers pulled over a vehicle on Chelmsford Street. Darlene Stauffer-Choo, 53, of 4 Longfellow Lane, Tyngsboro, was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle after license suspension.
