The Old Stop & Shop plaza building project on Boston Road...

I read back months ago construction on the Old Stop & Shop Plaza would be starting in September, what happened to that project and is it still going to happen?  That sore eye is not doing much for our town center.

Anyone know the answer to this ... I have also been wondering. It still looks so abandoned and forlorn ... Either get this show on the road or quit with the promises and bulldoze the whole thing and turn it into a park!

A development company purchased it around six months ago. They were looking for tenants but perhaps no one has bitten yet.

Check out the Town of Chelmsford Planning Board meetings online Also you can Google "Chelmsford Town Commons Winstanley" and see lots of info.

Thanks Barbara, I'll check that out. BUT, Since the Chelmsford Patch posted this first, I thought someone over there would have done a follow up on it...to call them out on what they said and did not follow through on it, construction was to start this past September.

Also an explanation, the Planning Board process with this property concluded in August and I was out in August, so that left a little hiccup there when it came to us. Sorry for the delay.

Thank you Andrew! November 15th start time, perfect timing, just in time for snow ...

Since most of the building is remaining intact there is a lot they can do all winter.

As we generally are speaking of eye sores and what can be done. What on earth happened to the beautiful trees in the center of town in front of that broken down building housing the law office, beauty salon, art shop, etc...... This action destroyed the only little beauty spot in Chelmsford Center and must have left the merchants stunned. I hope the town in its infinite wisdom will replace the trees after the repairs are done and truly make this area welcoming once more. Ten steps forward and five back. Give me a break.....how can we ever make this area a destination center. Joan Kopp
