Chelmsford Trying to End Busing for Special Ed preschoolers
On Friday, May 30th, a letter from Brad Brooks was distributed to the parents of all students receiving transportation per their IEP. This letter served as a notice to parents that transportation, for the CHIPS program, would no longer be provided effective September 3, 2014. Many parents have expressed concerns regarding this communication. For this reason, a meeting will be held on Monday June 9th, at 7pm at the CHIPS cafeteria. The meeting will include Dr. Tiano, Superintendent, Mike Rigney, School Committee Chair, Brad Brooks, Student Services Director and Kara Saranich, CHIPS Preschool coordinator. It will serve as an opportunity for parents to receive additional information on the reasoning for this decision, as well as to allow parents to ask questions and/or voice their concerns.
If you are unable to attend this meeting and wish for your feedback to be shared, please contact Christine Lindberg (parent advocate). I will take note of your feedback and share it with the educational leadership during the meeting.
Please feel free to contact me via email, or phone, with any questions.
