Chelmsford Town Elections

I am writing this letter in support of Jon Kurland in his bid for Town Moderator. Why?  Because he is a nice guy. I don’t mean meek or mild or timid. Nice is not a four letter word.I mean nice as pleasant and courteous. He is not a guy who has to yell or bluster in order to get his point across.
When he was a Selectman, I’d see him around town and I would ask him what was going on in the town from a government point of view.  We would often discuss things and while we didn’t always agree on all points, I always felt myself heard by Jon.

It is my belief that Jon has the perfect temperament to wrangle the 162 Representatives at Town Meeting. That he will let everyone have their fair share of time at the microphone and make sure the meeting runs as smoothly as possible.  I don’t know Mr DeFraitis, but I do know Jon.  I don’t know any other Chelmsfordian who could do the Town Moderator job better.

i don't follow local politics that much . But I do know this much. Defreitas set up a MARCOM committee(sp). Defreitas put himself with the committee as an Ex Officio member. Say what? the purpose of the committee was to recommend policy that directly affected Defeitas as Modeator. Defreitas should have been no where present when the committee met and formulated recommendation . Defreitas actually sat at the meeting , keeping a close eye and steering the deliberations? Not cool. Whose idea was that? If they wanted perspective and guidance from someone Ex officio , the last person to supply that was the person about whom recommendations were directed. how about appointing as Ex Officio the prior Moderator that was there 30 years and could offer up seasoned advice. I smell a rat here. not to mention the formation of the committee was a ruse to hide the incompetence. Why no one on the committee did not pick up on this , i'll never know, and let it go. I sense a control freak here.

It is time for a change. Vote out all the incumbents and elect new people who have the energy and new ideas to help all the people in town.

Yes Jean, it is time for a change in Chelmsford. Time for "The Club" to go. Might as well start with voting For Joyce. Ready seems like a nice guy, family man, but he is part of the club!
