I am writing this letter in support of Jon Kurland in his bid for Town Moderator. Why? Because he is a nice guy. I don’t mean meek or mild or timid. Nice is not a four letter word.I mean nice as pleasant and courteous. He is not a guy who has to yell or bluster in order to get his point across.
When he was a Selectman, I’d see him around town and I would ask him what was going on in the town from a government point of view. We would often discuss things and while we didn’t always agree on all points, I always felt myself heard by Jon.
It is my belief that Jon has the perfect temperament to wrangle the 162 Representatives at Town Meeting. That he will let everyone have their fair share of time at the microphone and make sure the meeting runs as smoothly as possible. I don’t know Mr DeFraitis, but I do know Jon. I don’t know any other Chelmsfordian who could do the Town Moderator job better.
