World War II Veteran Passes Away After Nearly a Century Living in Chelmsford

Louis George L'Heureux, 93, was born in Chelmsford in 1921.

The following is an obituary courtesy of Blake Funeral Home.

Louis George L’Heureux, 93, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, June 23, 2014 in the company of his family. He was the beloved husband of the late Dolores (Vezina) L’Heureux to whom he was married for 60 years prior to her death on March 18th of this year.

He was born in Chelmsford on March 13, 1921 and was a son of the late Joseph L’Heureux and Emelie (Grenier) L’Heureux. 

Louis proudly served in the United States Army during WWII. Louis was a longtime employee of Bill & Andy’s Bicycle Shop in Chelmsford, later retiring from Community Tree Service. He was a member of the Chelmsford Lodge of Elks and he enjoyed tending to his garden. Above all, Louis was a devoted family man who enjoyed spending time with his loving wife, children, and grandchildren.

Louis is survived by his six children; Linda Manekas and her husband Bill of FL, Frances Ducharme and her husband Gerard of Dracut, Joey L’Heureux of OH, Michael H. L’Heureux and his wife Ruth of Dracut, Geraldine Jeski and her husband Mark of Dracut, and Bonnie Jean L’Heureux of Chelmsford, 11 grandchildren; Stephen Manekas, Jeremy Ducharme, Alvie and Melissa L’Heureux, Matthew, Amanda, Robert, and Michael D. L’Heureux, and Brandon, Katie, and Timothy Jeski, one great-grandchild Julia Ducharme, and many nieces and nephews, including Gerry and Shirley L’Heureux. Louis was predeceased by a son Michael James L’Heureux and three brothers, Ralph, Alphie and Henry L’Heureux and a sister, Harriet Quinn.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4 to 7 pm at the Blake Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 9 o’clock at St. Mary Parish, 25 North Rd., Chelmsford. PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. 

Interment in Pine Ridge Cemetery.
