ROBERT S. POPP, 82, of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Mass. General Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Leslie (Hubbell) Popp who died in 2004.
He was born in Brockton, MA on October 23, 1931 and was a son of the late George J. and Julia E. (Olah) Popp.
Robert was a graduate of Brown University where he played baseball and basketball and earned his Master’s Degree from Boston University. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Prior to his retirement, Robert was a longtime employee of MITRE Corporation. He was an avid golfer and a longtime member of the Nashua Country Club. He loved sports; especially attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He enjoyed spending time at his home on the Cape and above all cherished his time spent with his family.
Robert is survived by his children; Lisa Apostolakes and her husband James of Groton, Robin Popp of Chelmsford, George Popp and his wife Cheryl of Westford, and Suzanne Dallas and her husband Jeffrey of Bernardsville, NJ, nine grandchildren; James, Christopher, and Nicholas Apostolakes, Andrew, Alexa, and Kathryn Popp, and Jeffrey, Bradley, and William Dallas, brother Warren Popp of FL, niece Judy Connor and nephew Kenneth Popp. He was pre-deceased by a sister-in-law Barbara Popp.
