Obituary: Chelmsford Resident Served in Army Air Corps During WWII

Bob Varga, 86, of Chelmsford passed away on April 30.

The following is an obituary courtesy of Blake Funeral Home.

Robert L. “Bob” Varga, 86, of Chelmsford and a former longtime resident of Wakefield, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, at Lowell General Hospital after a period of declining health.

He was born in Lowell on October 13, 1927 and was a son of the late Louis and Julia (Konkoly) Varga. 

Bob was a graduate of Everett High School and a Veteran of the United States Army Air Corps having served during WWII. He liked to pass the time watching baseball and enjoyed having lunch with friends at the Saugus Senior Center. 

Bob is survived by his son Mark Varga of Sebastian, FL, two daughters; Kimberly (Varga) Bruce of North Chelmsford, and Kristin LaFond and her husband Phil of Arlington, MA, three grandchildren; Kevin Bruce, Lauren Bruce, Marsha-Lee Varga, and a brother Walter Varga of Peabody. He was the brother of the late Beverly Gettler. 

It being his wish, there will be no visitation. A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Blake Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford. Interment will be private.
