Longtime Chelmsford Resident Recalled as Music Lover

Rosa Patricia (Alioto) Raneri passed away at 90 years old.

Rosa Patricia (Alioto) Raneri, 90, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, Jan. 28, in the company of her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Joseph Paul Raneri with whom she enjoyed 65 years of marriage.

She was born in Boston on March 17, 1923, and was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (LaSpina) Alioto.

Rosa attended parochial schools and was a graduate of East Boston High School. 

Rosa was a music lover who enjoyed singing and playing the accordion and keyboard. Rosa had many interests; she enjoyed spending time in her kitchen cooking and baking for her family; she liked crocheting and shopping and in her younger years she loved swimming. Above all, Rosa was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose greatest pleasure was spending time in the company of her devoted and loving family. 

In addition to her husband, Rosa is survived by her seven children; Michael Raneri, Pauline Rock, Nancy Benetti, Joseph Raneri, Jr., Andrew Raneri, Linda Frost, and Regina Raneri; 20 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a brother, William Alioto. Rosa was predeceased by her siblings Marion Angelini and Joseph Alioto, Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Parish, 25 North Rd., Chelmsford. Please meet at church. Interment in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford.
