Kathleen Murphy, 87

Kathleen D. Murphy, late of Chelmsford, MA died Thursday, January 2, 2014.

She was the first child born to Thomas F. Dowd DMD and Kathleen V. (Macbeth) on August 23, 1926 in Milton, MA.  She received her early education in the Newton, MA schools, but graduated from Rogers Hall, Lowell, MA. She attended Russell Sage College in Troy, NY for two years, after which she married William Joseph Murphy.

In the mid 1960s, Kathleen established her own title examination business.  She worked for many years at the Lowell, Cambridge and Dedham Registries.

Kathleen was predeceased by her daughter, Paula M. Christian in 2004.

She is survived by her daughter, Maureen M. George and her husband Gary of Wells, ME; a granddaughter, Victoria George and her husband Carld Auguste; a grandson, Stephen M. George and his wife Lauren; seven great grandchildren; her sister, Mary A. Megeaski of Nashua, NH and brother, Thomas F. Dowd Jr. of Boca Raton, FL.

It being her wish, there will be no visitation.  A Memorial Service will take place on Friday at 1 o’clock at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St. CHELMSFORD.  Interment will follow in Pine Ridge Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Kathleen’s memory can be made to the Lowell Humane Society, 951 Broadway St. Lowell, MA 01854 or to the Disabled American Veterans, 180 Pond St. Tewksbury, MA 01876.  For a full obituary and to leave online condolences, please visit WWW.BLAKEFUNERALHOME.COM
