Chelmsford Resident, 83, Worked for Chelmsford Public Schools

Evelyn T. Lane was a cafeteria worker in Chelmsford schools for many years before her retirement.

The following is an obituary courtesy of Blake Funeral Home.

Evelyn T. Lane, 83, a longtime resident of Chelmsford died Friday, June 13, at Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Chelmsford. She was the wife of the late Robert Lane who died in 1992.

She was born in Lowell on October 15, 1930, and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Germaine (Dion) Levassur. She attended Lowell schools. 

Prior to her retirement, Evelyn was employed for many years as a cafeteria worker for the Chelmsford school system. She was a member of the East End Club Cribbage League in Lowell.

In her free time she enjoyed traveling, going to bingo games at St. John Evangelical Church in Chelmsford, going out to eat, going to the movies, watching television, especially game shows, and spending time with her loving grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Evelyn is survived by five daughters and sons-in-law, Audrey and Richard Hutchison of Lowell, Paula and Edward Duffin of N. Chelmsford, Donna and William Salisbury of Lowell, Joy and George Collins of Chelmsford and Julia and Keith Hutchinson of Brookline, NH; 13 grandchildren, Erica, Michelle, Richard, Jr., Kerri, Kristy, Jillian, Timothy, Jason, Thomas, Christopher, Steven, Donald, Jr., and Holly; 18 great grandchildren, Callista, Liam, twins to be, Matthew, Maeghan, Joshua, Ellie, Dexter, Asher, Crystal, Timothy, Jr., Patrick, Slade, Cooper, Morgan, Hunter, and Kelsey; her sister, Aline Ricker of Bedford, MA; her cousin and dear friend, Lorraine Cannon of Dracut; and several nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Alan J. Grand, Darlene Lane, and Robert Lane, Jr. 

Evelyn’s family would like to thank the staffs at Sunny Acres, Merrimack Valley Hospice, and Lowell General Hospital for their care and support. 

It being her wish, there will be no visitation. Family and friends attended her Funeral Mass on Monday morning at St. Mary Church.
