Chelmsford's Fourth of July (and Third of July) Schedule

The Fourth of July is upon us here in Chelmsford, and although there are no fireworks in town, there's plenty of things going on that are worth setting up your chair on North Road days in advance for. 

Here's a list of Wednesday and Thursday's festivities from the town website as well as list of the closed roads for the parade, which will head out from the McCarthy School at 10 a.m. and head to the Old Stop and Shop Plaza on Boston Road.
All events are on the Common unless otherwise specified.

July 3

5 to 11 p.m. - Country Fair hosted by the Chelmsford Lions Club
5:30 p.m. - Dance Group by the Dancing Center Unlimited
6 to 9 p.m. - Art Festival, Chelmsford Art Society (at the Chelmsford Center for the Arts across from the Common)
6 to 8 p.m. - Kiddie train rides from the Chelmsford Rotary (Rear of the Fire Station)
6:30 p.m. - Chelmsford Suburbanettes twirling group
6:55 p.m. - Studio A Dance Company
7 to 9 p.m. - Chelmsford Community Band concert
9 to 10 p.m. - Concert by AttiK

July 4

7 to 10 a.m. - Coffee at the First Parish Univeralist Church (across from common)
8 to 3 p.m. - Country Fair by the Chelmsford Lions' Club
8:30 a.m. - Flag Raising by the Police and Fire Honor Guards
8:30 to 1 p.m. - Art Festival Hosted by the Chelmsford Art Society at the Chelmsford Center for the Arts
10 a.m. - Parade (from McCarthy School to Old Stop and Shop Plaza)
12 p.m. - Raffle drawing by Chelmsford Parade Committee. 

Closed Roads on the Fourth

Westford Street from North Road to Academy Street CLOSED Wednesday, July 3rd, 10:00 A.M. through Thursday, July 4th until approximately 7:00 P.M.
 
Academy Street CLOSED TO ALL TRAFFIC and NO PARKING BOTH SIDES OF STREET from 12 Noon Wednesday, July 3rd, through Thursday, July 4th until approximately 7:00 P.M.
 
Westford Street at Dalton Road CLOSED to all South Bound Traffic, detoured South down Dalton Road toward North Road from 12 Noon Wednesday, July 3rd,  until approximately 7:00 P.M. Thursday, July 4th.  Upper and lower Dalton Road CLOSED at North Road to all traffic for Parade at 9:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 4th.
 
Posting of NO PARKING SIGNS, Wednesday,  July 3rd.  One side of Dalton Road from North Road to Westford Street.  (Increased DETOUR traffic North and South).
 
North Road CLOSED to all traffic from Chelmsford Center to Fletcher Street Wednesday, July 3rd, from approximately 6:00 P.M. or sooner if necessary to 11:00 P.M. (Pedestrian Safety for Common Activities).
 
Posting of NO PARKING SIGNS Thursday, July 4th, along Road Races and Parade Route from 6:00 A.M. to 1 P.M.
 
North Road from Drum Hill to Chelmsford Center, Central Square, Littleton Road at Chelmsford Center, Chelmsford Street from Central Square to Fletcher Street  CLOSED for the annual Road Races and Parade at approximately 9:00 A.M. Thursday, July 4th.
 
Parkhurst Road CLOSED at Drum Hill Road, North Road and Smith Street at approximately 9:00 A.M. Thursday, July 4th for annual Road Race.  Parkhurst Road will reopen from Drum Hill Road to Smith Street at 9:30 A.M.
 
Wilson Street at Chelmsford Street and Billerica Road CLOSED at approximately 9:00 A.M. Thursday, July 4th for Parade.
