Public Speaking Class

PUBLIC SPEAKING CLASS (COURSE #116)
$80, CommEd Room 11
Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–12:00 pm
1 week beginning August 4, 2014 (ages 11–16)

Do
you want to be a smart business person who gives a killer address and
wins over a group of venture capitalists? Or a TV News Anchor who is
sharp and award winning? Perhaps take center stage in the theater? Here
is your chance to learn how. Students will have the chance to try
different interpretive and Platform Events. Interpretive Events include:
Humorous and Dramatic Interpretation, Prose and Play Reading, Impromptu
and Duo Interpretation. Platform Events include: Original Oratory,
Declamation, Extemporaneous Speaking, Radio Broadcasting, etc. The
skills developed in these events transfer across the academic
experience into business, the media, the theater and public relations.
The rules and formats of these events are based on the Massachusetts
Speech and Debate League. Students please bring a notebook to class.
