New to chess or interested in brushing up on chess basics? Chess I is geared for players ages 6 and up who do not know the rules of chess or who feel they would benefit by review and further practice. The class will combine time for instruction as well as play between the participants. Concepts to be covered include basic rules of chess, relative values of pieces, check vs. checkmate vs. stalemate, the three phases of the chess game, development and basic checkmates.
