POLL: Chelmsford's Number of Reps to Stay at Four

The state announced there will be no changes to the number of state reps in Chelmsford.

The state today announced today Chelmsford will keep its four state representatives despitethat sought to minimize that number.

In a revelation Town Manager Paul Cohen called "surprising," state officials said it would be logistically impossible to reduce the number of state representatives in town.

Town officials had appointed the to look into the issue, hoping that having less representatives in Chelmsford would mean those reps would be dependent upon Chelmsford voters to put them in office.

Cohen said Chelmsford is one of the only towns in the state of its size with such a large number of town reps.
