School Resource Officer Approved For Westford Academy:
Westford Academy students will now have an on-duty police officer on the campus following short term budgetary assistance from Town Meeting voters and a candidate for the position announced by Westford Police Chief Thomas McEnaney.


Linden School 'Safe and Sound' After Knife Incident:  A student at Linden Elementary School was reportedly found to be carrying a knife that was later surrendered to school officials. No one was hurt in the incident.

North Reading:

School Lunches Improve in North Reading: 

As students file into the lunch line in the North Reading High School cafeteria they are finding more than just a hot or cold lunch option. Students are able to choose from a variety of healthier options including a made-to-order sandwich, and Director of Food Services Anna McGovern oversees the line reminding students to add a fruit or vegetable to their lunch tray.


This excerpt from the Reading Police Department log highlights a minor arrested on charges of operating without a license and possession of alcohol as well as a woman being hit by a vehicle and transported to the hospital.


Colleen Kelly, 21, who was expected to graduate from Framingham State University in 2013, was an English major, who just completed a 12-week internship at Fuller Middle School.


Police Make Seven OUI Arrests Over Three Days:

Wilmington Police were busy over the weekend, making seven drunk driving arrests in a span of three days. 
Those arrests included four drivers who were arrested for a subsequent offense of operating under the influence.


Police Will Be Stationed at Medford Schools Following Newtown Tragedy

Uniformed and plain clothes police officers will be stationed at all Medford Public School buildings from now into January, among other additional security measures announced by Superintendent Roy Belson.


Somerville Police Make Series of Cocaine Arrests

The Somerville Police Department made a series cocaine-related arrests during mid-December, according to police reports. In one instance, an undercover operative led investigators to an alleged dealer known as "El Diablo."


Tewksbury Remembers Victims of Newtown Shooting at Candlelight Vigil

Nearly 150 Tewksbury residents dropped what they were doing on Saturday night to gather on the Tewksbury Town Common for a Candlelight Vigil in memory of the victims of the Newtown, Conn. school shooting.
