Assistant Superintendent Hired

A press release from the Chelmsford Public Schools.

 Dr. Kristan Rodriguez has been appointed Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction for the Chelmsford Public School District. Last night, the School Committee made a unanimous vote in support of Superintendent Frank Tiano’s recommendation. Forty-three applicants applied for the position and after detailed analysis, four candidates were initially interviewed by the district’s Search Committee. The candidates were pared down to two finalists.  The finalists were interviewed a second time by a larger search committee which included members of the School Committee and teachers. Site visits were completed for each finalist as well as a third interview with members of the Central Administration. Dr. Tiano made his final recommendation to the School Committee in open session.

Dr. Rodriguez is currently the Director of Curriculum and Instruction in the Georgetown Public School District. She has been an administrator for ten years.  In addition to her present position, she has served in leadership roles as an elementary principal, assistant principal, Title I Director and K-8 ELA Curriculum Coordinator. She is also an adjunct professor for Fitchburg State University, a facilitator of principal/assistant principal seminars for Merrimack Education Collaborative and a consultant for data teams for other school districts. Dr. Rodriguez began her career as a high school English teacher.

Dr. Rodriguez earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Administration from Boston College.  She also holds a Master of Education Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Gordon College and Bachelor of Science Degree from Boston University. 

Dr. Rodriguez was notified of her recommendation by Dr. Tiano on Sunday.   She was present at the School Committee meeting last night and shared her appreciation to the committee, the superintendent and the search team.  Dr. Rodriguez is greatly looking forward to the transition process over the next few months in order to hit the ground running on July 1st when she assumes the position.
