What Chelmsford Business Were You Sad to See Close in 2012?

During these economic times, businesses come and go all the time. Tell us which ones you were sad to see go in the comments section below.

Businesses come and businesses go, and 2012 was no different here in Chelmsford.

From stores that closed like the Tango Grill and Aubuchon to ones that moved like CVS and Stop and Shop, this year saw much change on the landscape of the Chelmsford business landscape.

But, as the year comes to a close, we want to ask you which store you will miss the most from 2012's closings, and which store would you miss the most if it were to close in 2013?

Tell us your thoughts in the comments.

Aubuchon, of course. And S&S's move made for terrific travel problems along Rt. 110, not to mention the inconvenience of having to travel a longer way for a loaf of bread or bottle of milk, so I guess I miss the location of the old S&S for the ease of just dropping in to a store close by. Have spoken previously re: the eyesore left behind by the removal of Marshall's and S&S so won't go into that here. I like the new CVS, hate driving by that depression-looking plaza tho.

I would miss the Chelmsford Card & Gift store. Love that store, go there often!

I miss the Kings Den barber shop. I used to enjoy the 45 minute waits, the freezing temps, and being left in the chair while the barber would step out for 10 minutes or so. The Clip is a big upgrade and I enjoy going there.

I was surprised to read the Newton's Hair Salon is closing. My daughter had her hair done there back in August, and they did a really nice job.

Irene, you just reminded me of the original Chelmsford Gift Shop, a store with lots of unique inventory ... not the card and gift shop that exists now. The original was owned by "John", who had another store on the Cape, When the original closed, it became 2 stores, the basket and floral shop right next door to the card and gift store, still owned then by John but I think he either sold it, retired, or is now in the great beyond. That is sorely missed by me, and the wonderful Lamplighter Shop which was located in Parlmont Plaza. Now that was a gem, a bit of real class, run by an older woman with big-city inventory. Never left that shop without free gift wrapping, didn't even need to request it no matter how small the purchase. I know I'm going back aways, but of all the stores I miss, I rate them as the top two.

My husband will miss Aubuchon's and old Stop and Shop. Someone told me that Fishbones has converted their fish market to extended bar area so I will miss fresh fish. It was always a treat. Traffic is bad and street parking is dangerous, I can see why these stores are leaving. The Cornerstone Mall may be hurting Chelmsford but there is not enough parking and I don't think the restaurants will keep busy 7 days a week. I rather go to stores that know me personally than a chain store where the quality is questionable. Chelmsford needs a brand and gets to be unique.

I was sad to see Cafe Madrid leave. I liked their food, and the owner was very nice. Also was disappointed to see the Tango Grill close, but am happy that the Sugar Bake shoppe has occupied that space. She has wonderful treats.

So many losses ... I will miss Cafe Madrid as well ... loved both owners, but I could see that it was harrying for them after a while. Have not been to the newer restaurant which took its place, but CM was a bit different and fairly priced for really good food.
