Trash Turns Into Treasure for Chelmsford Farmers Market Vendor
That Button and Plant Lady, also known as Gail Somers Sun, sells a wide variety of creations on Chelmsford Town Common.
Gail Somers Sun isn't only hoping to sell you a piece of jewelry or other creations. She's also trying to save you a trip to the dump.
"It's a lot of fun to do, and it keeps things out of the landfill," said Somers Sun, who is Patch's latest vendor spotlight. The creative craftsman sets up each week at the Chelmsford Farmers Market as That Button and Plant Lady.
Somers Sun strives to be the definition of one person's trash being another one's treasure. She takes old items that would otherwise be thrown away, and turns them into decorations and jewelry.
She's used old Barbie shoes on necklaces that were made of repurposed chains, turned tea kettles into plant holders, and much more.
In addition to enjoying the time she spends creating, Somers Sun also enjoys spending every Thursday on Chelmsford Town Common from 2-6:30 p.m., meeting a wide variety of residents.
"Because I made it, and they loved it, there's that connection," said Somers Sun. "And that's what's great."
