Local Trio Heads to Alpine Lane With Big Expectations For New Boutique

Black Box Boutique will be moving into the old location of Markus + Leslie. They'll also be selling Markus + Leslie apparel in addition to original fashion items.

For awhile now, anyone looking for the latest in Chelmsford chic could just head to Alpine Lane. Those shoppers can still head to the same address, but they’ll find an entire new destination when they arrive.

Following their opening on Saturday, this marks the first full week for the Black Box Boutique, a new store on Alpine Lane taking the place of Markus + Leslie, which has moved down to Central Square.

Ironically enough, Black Box Boutique co-founder Stacey Alcorn was originally looking at the location Markus + Leslie just moved into next door to Fishbones. However, the opening on Alpine Lane may just have been fate, given that they will be selling Markus + Leslie clothing at their location, with Markus + Leslie itself looking to focus more on artwork moving forward.

Alcorn says the location has also been helpful thanks to foot traffic next door at Jimmy’s Pizza, which brought countless onlookers to the developing storefront over the past two months while Alcorn and her partners Christi Guthrie and AnnMarie DuRoss got the store ready for opening.

The trio all live and work in the area, with Alcorn working as a real estate agent at RE/MAX Prestige just less than five minutes up Chelmsford Street, but since launching Black Box Boutique as a monthly fashion subscription service in January, they’ve all been spending more time thinking to what their new business might become.

“It (just) took off quickly, we decided that we needed a store,” said Alcorn. “We’re excited.”

In addition to clothing, the store is also expected to host events as well as other selling other fashion related items.

Alcorn says that she hopes this will be the first of many Black Box locations, with planning already underway for potential additional locations in Westford, Andover or Nashua.
