Kronos Reports Strong Earnings, Courier Announces Dividend Plan

The two Chelmsford companies exuded confidence in recent earnings statements.

The Lowell Sun reports this month that Billerica-road based Kronos reported sales of $870 million for the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, a 9 percent increase from the previous year.

The announcement came shortly before the news of a new tablet unveiling by the workplace managment-focused company, which expanded its facilities here in Chelmsford earlier this year.

In other local business news, the North Chelmsford-based Courier Corporation announced last week a dividend of 21 cents per common share, payable December 14, 2012 to stockholders of record on November 30, 2012, in addition to seeking to repurchase $10 million of its own stock from shareholders.

"In addition to authorizing the new stock repurchase program, the Board reaffirmed its commitment to the dividend, based on its confidence in the continuing strength of the company's balance sheet, cash flow and business prospects," said Courier chairman and chief executive officer James F. Conway III to Businesswire. "These steps support our goal of returning value to shareholders."
