Five Guys Settling in at New Drum Hill Location

Business has been slightly slower than expected at Five Guys, but the new location's manager believes things will pick up in the fall.

There’s a new guy in town. Well technically, there are five of them.

Five Guys Burgers and Fries opened in Chelmsford on Drum Hill Road this summer, and according to manager Mike Kacprzyk the business is beginning to settle in to its new location.

Kacprzyk admitted that business has been a bit slower than expected since Five Guys opened, but he said that is likely due in part to many Chelmsford residents being out of town on summer vacation.

“We’re hoping that when people get back to school, things will start booming,” said Kacprzyk. “We’ll see what happens this winter and fall. I think the traffic will start picking up. We’ve heard from a lot of teachers who said people at UMass-Lowell have been saying they’re very excited that we opened nearby.”

For those unfamiliar, Five Guys is a combination of fast food and sit down dining that Kacprzyk called a “fast casual concept.” In addition to hamburgers, there are hot dogs, veggie sandwiches and massive orders of French fries.

The new business is located next to Panera Bread in the Wal-Mart plaza on Drum Hill Road. The business is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

“They did a lot of research before opening here,” said Kacprzyk. “There are a lot of different fast food places in the area, but this is an opportunity to try something different. There’s Burger King and McDonald’s nearby. But everything is about being fresh here.”
