Help Raise Awareness for Lung Cancer with Chelmsford Free to Breathe

Did you know that over 228,000 people are diagnosed with lung cancer and that 160,000 lives are lost to this disease each year in the US? Did you know that lung cancer claims more lives each year than breast, prostate and colon cancers combined and accounts for 27% of all cancer deaths? Did you know that lung cancer doesn't receive nearly enough funding and awareness and that often it is caught once it has already spread? Unfortunately many cases of lung cancer are not caught early enough for most treatments to be effective.

But most importantly, did you know that there is HOPE for lung cancer patients and their families? Chelmsford Free to Breathe is a 5K run/walk and 1 mile walk event that is part of a nationwide event series that raises much needed funds for Free to Breathe's lung cancer research, awareness and education programs. In just four years, our event alone has raised over $250,000 and we are very excited about this year's opportunity to raise even more towards the over $10 million raised since the programs inception in 2006.  As research funding grows, survival rates improve. Free to Breathe announced last year their bold new vision to double lung cancer survival by 2022 and we are dedicated to helping make that vision a reality.
