Chelmsford Native Helps 'Monsters' Hit the Big Screen

A Chelmsford resident told the Lowell Sun about his role in creating Monsters University, which is in theaters now.

Monsters University is currently the No. 1 movie in America. And there's one Chelmsford native who is particularly pleased to see the animated film performing so well.

According to a story in the Lowell Sun, 1994 Chelmsford High School graduate Dean Kelly spent the last three years as a story artist for Pixar working on the film that was the top grossing movie this weekend for the second straight time.

"The response has been very overwhelming and very satisfying," said Kelly, according to The Sun.

Kelly currently lives near Oakland with his wife and three children, according to The Sun, and in the movie making process he is a key player in decided what camera angles to use.

"You hope you're telling a story that people can enjoy and laugh at and get a good reaction from, and it's a good feeling to have that response," Kelly told the newspaper.
